WEKAF Regionals
November 5th, 2005- Team IMAF competed this weekend at the WEKAF regionals full contact stickfighting tournament held in Jersey City. This was a large tournament as the world Championships are being held in Disney world July 2006 instead of in the Philippines. All the divisions were packed and the fighters were some of the best seen in the past few years. Chris Praml, Ken Gruber both won gold with 2 fights each. Ken started off the day against some seasoned fighters and in his "Refuse to Lose" fashion he hammered out two victories! Ken is the current National Champion in his division! Chris Praml demonstrated incredible technical ability, impressive power and unyielding conditioning to bring home the gold in a VERY tough division. Chris also went on to take a 3rd place in Sayaw (Forms).
Solomon Wheeler took second with a hard fought fight against a seasoned and dominating opponent and has to be crowned as IMAF's most improved fighter. Tung Cheng also took second with two tough fights going into overtime in another tough, competitive division. . Congratulations Team IMAF for an outstanding job! Thanks to the IMAF students and parents that came down to support the team and help coach.
Also congratulations to Master Dongs PIMA for the usual incredible fights and for hosting a great tournament......

Team IMAF continued its strong showing at the 2002 Bakbakan Full Contact
Stick Fighting tournaments in Lodi NJ. Dave Ferreira
took First Place in the Men's Single Stick division with 3 fights. Ken Gruber and
John Rivano , a new member of the IMAF competition team, both fought
tough close matches. Ken dropped his
stick and in some opinions would have won the fight not for
that. John Rivano fought a competitor with many years
experience. This was Johns first fight and it was very close. Dave also fought in the grappling divisions having 3 matches. Dave showed great technique but lost to 2 excellent fighters on points while submitting the third fighter. Congratulations to all the IMAF team members who competed. Another great job!
