July 2011

Congratulations to Jack Wang on testing for his Black Belt and to James Goldman for testing for his yellow stripe on his Second Degree Black Belt. The both did an amazing job and their hard training showed.

May 2011

Congratulations to senior IMAF student Steve Grossbard for testing for his Doce Pares Black Belt with SGM Diony Canete.  Thanks also to Guro Oliver Lim, Guro Randy Kansky, Bill Leung and Juan Reistra for assisting Steve in his promotion.

Children's Belt Test - March 25 2011 - Congratulations to all those students that tested this past Friday. Everyone looked amazing and their hard work paid off. Everyone hit their breaks, forms and their sparring was right on.

Stickfighting Clinic March 12th, 2011 - I want to thank all those fighters who came down to train in IMAF's Stickfighting Clinic this past Saturday - March 12th.  Specifically Guro Nancy Walzog of Satori Academy, Guro Pete Potenciano of elite Tactical Martial Arts, John Cruz of Titan Martial Arts, Keith Anthony Kelly, Glenn Gabison and all those fighters from IMAF.

We had nearly 30 people come down to train and work with beginners to help get them  involved in this aspect of FMA. We covered WEKAF sparring, reduced gear sparring, stickboxing, edged weapons. mixed weapons (bo staff, cain, nunchuka). Look for the next event around the end of June.

January 2011

Congratulations to all our students that tested this Jan 21 and 22. As usual everyone worked very hard for this moment and it showed by their incredible performance. Thanks to Guro Tom Walker, John Lodato, Xeulin Guo and Steve Grossbard for their help. Also thanks to Guro Oliver Lim for helping officate the Adult Doce Pares Test!

Congratulations to Guy Rettig for being accepted into the IMAF Black Belt Training program! Guy has been with IMAF for over a year and has just recently tested for his Green Belt.  For student to be accepted into this program they must display excellent attitude, respect & courtesy towards others and must demonstrate the willingness to make the journey to Black Belt. Guy is an outstanding student and we are proud to have in this program.

Belt Promotions:

Congratulations to all those students who successfully tested this past Friday evening. Everyone worked hard for this test and it showed. I was proud  of how all the students performed. I see quite a few future black belts there!

Special congratulations to our two new IMAF Black Belts, Nick Percivale-Bagdat and Scott Norton. Alsdo to our first junior Second Degree Black Belt, James Goldman. James has been with IMAF for 9 years and has competed  in full contact stickfighting, BJJ and kickboxing. He is an amazing competitor and as part  of our SWAT leadership team, a great help in class.

Christmas/Holiday Party - IMAF had it's annual holiday party this past Sat Dec 11, 2010. This was followed by the UFC fights on our big screen TV. We were happy to see so many students and their families stop by and it looked like everyone had a great time. The food was amazing as many  of our students cooked their favorites to share with everyone. Happy holidays to all our students and their families!

September 25th 2010 - IMAF for an amazing showing at the Battle at the Shore tournament this weekend at Absecon NJ. All our fighters did an amazing job and brought home a truck load of medals. Results and photos are posted  on the Tournament Page

September 2nd 2010 - Congratulations to IMAF students Chris Roemersma, Chris Praml and Randy Kansky for successfully testing for their "Apprentice Instructor" in IMAF's JKD program. Also congratulations to Dan Gomez who tested for his Phase 3 level.

May 2010 - Congratulations to all IMAF students that tested this past Friday (May 21st). you all worked very hard and showed exceptional skill in all ranges we teach - JKD kickboxing, Doce Pares and BJJ. Thanks also to the parents and family members who came down to support the students and to the following who took the time on a Friday evening to come in and help - John Lodato, Ken Gruber, Ant Gerber, Max Shapiro and Steve Grossbard. Thanks for making IMAF a true family!

March 2010 -

Congratulations to Breno, our BJJ instructor,  for his first place finish in "no gi" and second place in "Gi " at his weekend Grapplers Quest tournament.

Congratulations to Reesa, Lindsay and Brandon on making the Black Belt training program. All three are outstanding  students and demonstrated excellent attitude. We are proud to have them in this program and look forward to the day they receive their Black Belts!

February 2010- Congratulations to Lily on making the Black Belt training program. Lily excellent attitude. We are very proud to have her in this program as she has demonstrated the proper attitude and work ethic needed to successfully attain the level of Black Belt at IMAF.

January 2010 - Happy New Year to all..

Now that we have the space set up, thanks  to many of your generous donations and gift card, we are now using that money to buy new equipment for the school to enhance your training. We have some exciting events planned for this year so 2010 should be the best year yet at IMAF. We are planning an in house sparring clinic &an  in house tournament. We have a stickfighting tournament  in
Jersey City on March 27th  run by GM Dong cuesta of  PIMA as well as  another in April in Co run by Master Steve Wolk. There are also BJJ tournaments coming up which we will be participating in again.

Thank you all again for your support and help during this move and I hope to see you all training in the coming weeks.
