|
Friendship and respect are what it's about!! - Something rarely found in other organized sports these days!
IMAF's Competition Team is designed to give the students an opportunity to train for and compete in the numerous high quality competitions available today. Our Stickfighting competition Team is one of the top teams in the sport today. IMAF has consistently produced regional, national and world champions. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition team produces competitive students as evidenced by the recent performance of out team in the Battle at the Boardwalk, NAGA and Grapplers Quest etc.
More important than the medals is the self-confidence, increased respect for other team members and competitors demanded by the team and the increased focus and determination required to be competitive. These are traits that transcend into other areas of the students lives.

Benefits of competition: |
IMAF is known for have not only a competitive team but one that shows respect and is courteous to others. We have been congratulated more than once on the conduct and attitude of our team members by other school coaches on how we seem to be running the program "correct" instead of having a "win at all cost " attitude and losing sight of the real purpose of competition. Our students well being and character development come first. They are congratulated each time they come off the mat on a job well done whether or not they "win"!
Students are invited on to this team based on attendance, work ethic and moral character. Team practice is mandatory and continued absence is not acceptable. Students are expected to work hard, stay focused and practice. Students must also be member of the Black Belt Club to compete on the travel team.
Current and past stars!
While competition is not the only focus of training at IMAF, those that chose to compete receive excellent training and coaching by experienced competitors. The result is a constant string of successes for our competition team.
